It was a pleasure to return to the H.G. Wells Centre in Woking to host the 2017 Sport Woking awards, celebrating great local achievement. Amongst the winners were AFC Brooklands, who won the Eagle Radio Club of the Year award. Also picking up an award for Young Sports Personality of the Year was swimmer Anna Maine who said, “At my club especially there’s a lot to thrive on, and there’s a lot of good swimmers, and the community really helps to push me and develop my swimming further.”

Anna is a highly driven competitor, who said “This year I’m trying to qualify for the Commonwealth Games – trials are in December, so that’s the aim for this year. But obviously it’s the Olympics in two years, so that’s the big aim!”
