BBC Sussex and Surrey – Live and Local
At the end of October my series of programmes on BBC Sussex and Surrey came to a close.
What a fantastic opportunity it was. After receiving such a massive response to sharing my mental health story, I’d been going over ideas in my head of how to use the industry I work in to do more around the subject. I’d jotted down some ideas for podcasts when I was approached about doing a programme which would be broadcast on both BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey.
It was so good to explore a load of different subjects with regard to health and wellbeing, with a focus on mental health. We heard amazing stories, had great conversation and also received some lovely feedback about how listeners were relating to the show and finding comfort in the programme.
I also got a lovely surprise recently, when I received a message to say one of the episodes of the show had been nominated in the Local Media category of the Active Travel Media Awards. The nominated show focused heavily on the link between walking and mental health.
Massive thanks to my producer Anthony Martin, who was a dreamboat to work with every week. Also, thanks to the many guests who gave up their time and who were so open and honest for the programme.
Here’s a little taster of what happened on the programme. The following guests feature in the below clip:
Sarah Grace, Rachel Rose O’Brien, Nick White, Shalini Bhalla-Lucas, Students from Chichester High School, Will Young, Andrea McLean, Danny Jones, Rachel Morris, Stephanie Pena, Stephen Ireland, Emily Bollon, Nicky Newman, Bill Turnbull, Charlie Norton.
