A gentle reminder
It’s very easy to become complacent. Whether that is with your fitness routine when you plateau from doing the same exercises all the time, stop sending your other half flowers because your relationship is out of the honeymoon period, or because you do your job day in and day out so know what you’re doing with your eyes closed.
Every day, I arrive at the office and crack on with the jobs I need to get done, have a bit of lunch, and gear up to present Drive Time. I do all this forgetting that my office is pretty blooming cool. Today, a group of people arrived at Eagle Radio for a tour of the company, where they can meet the presenters, see what happens behind the scenes and have a look in the studios. I was asked to spend some time with the gang in the studio and show them what happens. The excitement of both the adults and children stopped me in my tracks (and eventually led to me writing this!). Some of the youngsters had a go at news reading, before I offered the chance to press some buttons – how scary! However, it was at this point that one of the adults burst forward and said “Can I have a go?!” Abso-bloomin-lutely. Following the tour, the group all wanted to have their photo in front of the ‘celeb board’ where all the pop stars have photos taken during a visit to the station.
It’s so easy to go about your day to day without thinking about it. I’m really glad I was involved today because it gave me an opportunity to take a step back and remember that I shouldn’t take doing this job for granted!
