The Graft Podcast
The Graft Podcast invited me to talk all about my career!
I first met Francine Jordan and Emma Williams when they hired me as a freelancer to work alongside them at Entertainment News. We spent several years together producing radio content, reporting on red carpet events and interviewing A list stars in press junkets. They’ve recently come together to produce a new podcast called ‘The Graft’. Guests talk all about the hard work they’ve put in to develop their careers in various media industries. It was a great honour for them to ask me to be part of their project – following on from Newsbeat/Radio 1 journalist Sinead Garvan and showbiz reporter Lucy Jayne Ford.
What I love about podcasts is the way they encourage natural and honest conversation. Obviously, I’m used to being on the other side – asking the questions! However, it was really nice to chat about what I’ve done so far in my career, how it all started and some of the big decisions I’ve had to make along the way. There’s lots of nostalgia, looking back at my time with Chichester Hospital Radio, my first break with Eagle Radio and more recent work with Leicester City and the BBC. Also, we have some really open and honest chats about mental health issues – as we keep the conversation going.
More than anything, it was great to catch up with some lovely friends, who are doing amazing, productive things to help others who may need a bit of advice and guidance. You can listen to the episode wherever you get your podcasts, or pick a platform here.
