Still waiting for the acting contract…
Most mornings have a similar start. Alarm goes off. Turn alarm off. Pick up phone. Check messages. Then see what delights the world of Facebook has picked for me to remember ‘On This Day’. Once I’ve skipped past the photos with ex girlfriends (cheers Facey B), you sometimes find an absolute gem! This week, I have been reminded of the time that I made my stage debut. I was invited to join the cast of Happy Days the Musical for one night only at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre, alongside former Sugababe Heidi Range and the brilliant Cheryl Baker. I had one line to deliver and I would be on stage for 10 seconds at most (if I really milked it!), but I was still bricking it and paced up and down my dressing room rehearsing my line, until my call to stage came. I’m not sure I’d ever been so nervous, but in an amazing rush of adrenaline I walked on and blasted my line out (in a horrendous American accent) and didn’t bring the show into disrepute. Job done.
Oh, and all that pacing up and down worked. Three years on and I can still remember the line…

I’m still awaiting my professional acting contract… In the meantime, I talk about theatre daily on Encore Radio. Click here to find out more and I’ll see you every weekday morning between 6am and 10am.
